ERMENEGILDO ZEGNA MOHAIR  TROPHY 2015 COMPETITION RULES

1. ENTRIES                                                                                                                           

 This competition is open to all South African Mohair growers.

All entries must be bales of summer Kid Mohair to be delivered to brokers within May the 30th 2015.

Minimum weight of the bales must be 80 kgs and maximum of 85 kgs. All entries must have a minimum average length of 100 mm. The brokers are responsible for choosing participating bales in consultation with growers.

All bales entered will be displayed with the producer’s clip and then be withdrawn until the last sale of the summer season, but test results will not be displayed until judging.

Once judging commences, the bales will be removed from the original packaging and be judged on the complete bale , with no identity attached to the bale.

A special auction will be held in conjunction with the last summer sale, where all the qualifying entries in Zegna competition will be auctioned.

2. JUDGING                                                                                                                             

Mohair South Africa officers will be the final judges of whether nominations qualify for the competition. Judging of the competition will be done individually by two independent external judges and one buyer. The three winning samples out of all the entries will be identified through a process of judging and obiective measurement in accordance with the criteria listed below.

The judges decision will be final.

3. SCORING METHOD - SCALE OF POINTS                                                                        

The fleeces will be judged in accordance with the criteria listed below.                                                    

All competitors will be provided with their individual scores against a standardised score-card and the total points scored by the winner will be included.

4.     PRIZES

The winners will be announced during a prize giving dinner to be held in South Africa in the course of 2015. The winner will be awarded with a large silver plate, a personalized certificate and a free trip to Italy valid for 2 people.

Classified 2nd and 3rd positions will receive a silver plate and a personalized certificate and cash prices will be awarded to position 4 to 10.

One of the Mohair growers finalists of the competition, with the exclusion of the winner, will be identified by a lucky draw and awarded, together with a partner, with a trip to Italy for 2 people.

Zegna will buy back the first three bales with places 1 to 3 in the competition, and an additional Bonus prize will be awarded for them by Zegna: 50% of the amount paid for the bales on the auction will be directly paid by Ermenegildo Zegna to the winning growers.
